(AP) - During a campaign stop in San Francisco GOP Primary Hopeful Khal Drogo endorsed Marvel Comics' controversial decision to have Spider-Man portrayed as a Stark Of Winterfell.
"Now that the debt ceiling debate is settled it's time to talk about the issues that really matter to the people," Drogo said. "While it is true that the Spider-Man we know and love has always been a Baratheon, times change and we need to change with the times."
Drogo continued to say that he was surprised that Spider-Man had never been depicted as a Stark before.
"Given Spider-Man's commitment to justice at all costs regardless of personal risk it only makes sense that he would have some Westeros blood in him," Drogo said.
Drogo's main opposition in the GOP primaries, Tywin Lannister, Lord of Casterly Rock, Shield of Lannisport and Warden of the West took the opportunity during a campaign stop in Texas to lash out at the Khal's acceptance of the new Spider-Man.
"As a Lannister I believe in tradition," he said. "Traditions are what made this country great. Traditions should be embraced and honored. Not only has Marvel spat in the face of tradition, they have dishonored the memory of the late President Robert Baratheon."
Lannister also objected to Marvel's decision to have the new Green Goblin depicted as a rouge member of the Stone Crow Clan - a demographic that has heavily supported his campaign.
"The Green Goblin has always been and should always be a member of House Arryn of the Eyrie," Lannister said.
