Chickens Coming Home To Roost

You know, if a guy connected to an African American political movement shot a member of Congress and a Federal judge it would discredit that entire movement.

But, somehow I don't think the Tea Party is going to get discredited over the Arizona shooting.

Even though:

1. Members of the Tea Party were bragging last year about bringing weapons to her public meet and greets.

2. Her house was vandalized by Tea Party members after the health care bill.

3. Sarah Palin last year issued a flier to members of the Tea Party listing members of congress to "Target." It included cross hairs over Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.

4. Now a Tea Party member has shot the congresswoman and a judge and a bunch of other people.

But, just wait. You'll hear "He was just a nut and not representative of the Tea Party as a whole."

He probably is just a nut. Yet, if the Tea Party were mostly black people I don't think he'd be portrayed that way.

And, this all shows the dangers of catering to extreme members of the voting public, which has been the GOP standard since Obama got elected.

The chickens have come home to roost and now that the genie is out of the bottle, it's going to be very, very hard to stuff him back in.

Justine Or Julliettte

During my last shrink session I was discussing dating and sex and culture and philosophy.

I won't bore you with what led up to this but, at one point I said (to my Freudian shrink!) "You know, deep down I think that de Sade understood women and relationships more than Freud or any other male writer ever has."

"You are probably right," she said. "But, do you know why you are right?"

And, I had to admit I don't. It just feels right.

"Then, that's your homework for Monday," she said. "Think about it. Think about Justine and Juliette and what they have to say."

I have no idea what I'll say Monday, but thinking about it has certainly made for an interesting weekend.
