Post War London

Damn, but "Life" is teaching me how fucking strange post war London was.

I had to have one of my friends explain to me the idea of a "council flat" or a "council house."

Essentially, at that point, unless you were wealthy the town government could just move your family at will anytime they wanted to. The goal was to hang in there until they let you have a shitty house instead of a shitty apartment.

Also, I had no idea that for years after World War II, they were still rationing out candy and sugar in London, or that there were bombed out building left standing for years.

Beyond that, whoa does their school system seem weird and fucked up. Pretty much if you didn't do really well in school when you were like eight or nine years old you got shuttered off either to "art schools" where they didn't teach you much about art or to vocational schools where they pretty much taught you how to be a factory worker.

It's very, very Orwellian.

Full Body Snark

Today, Gawker had the balls to make fun of the mighty Cheap Trick.

I left this as a comment:

Mama told me
Yes she told me
I'd read posts like this

She also told me
Ignore them
Cheap Trick can be bliss

Just the other day I heard of people paying big bucks

To see Justin Bieber who really sucks

Robin's all right. Ricky's all right. They just play a little weird.

Remember! Remember!

These boys know how to playyyyyyy!

Daddy said "Your mother's right
You can't trust some people's tastes.

And it looks like this post was written in a fit of haste."

Now I had heard Denton recruited writers full of snark.

But this post isn't one of those, it's just a lark

Robin's all right. Ricky's all right.

They just play a little weird.

Remember! Remember!

These boys know how to playyyy!

Whatever happens to all of Gawker's writers over the years?

As soon I start to like them, man they disappear.

When I woke up Remy and Brian were pumping out the snark.

Writing emails, editing stories about when Tom Cruise will come out.

Robins's all right. Ricky's all right.

They just play a little weird.

Remember! Remember!

Those boys know how to playyyyyyyy!
