Writer's Block: A real eye opener

Which one book should everyone read, and why?

Everyone on the left should read Atlas Shrugged.

Everyone on the right should read Das Kapital.

Because, a lot of our problems come from not really understanding what position the other side is coming from.

Seriously, both books have a lot of good ideas in them and both have a lot of bad ideas in them. But we can't really talk about that until we've both read and understood them.

Just shoving your head in the sand and saying "anyone who reads Atlas Shrugged is evil" is just as bad ad other people calling Obama a socialist or saying socialism is evil if they haven't read Das Kapital.

Far, far too many people have just read what other people have said about those books.

On Hiatus

Rome Girl accidentally killed our router while rearranging furniture yesterday so I won't be on LJ as much as usual.

The Internet company has to mail us a new router, and there's one federal holiday this week and at least one scheduled postal worker strike on top of that, so we have no fucking clue at all when we'll have working Internet again.

Anyway, if anyone has any really big news shoot me an email at

Cosmo Girl

Ever since Miss Darling moved out to the country (and to a village that has a fucking bread truck come through once a day) I don't get to see her very often.

Last night, however, she and I had a chance to grab a few cocktails at the Vert Anglais.

The results were predictable and documented with photographic evidence.

Willow's Wagon

You know I generally hate it when people I know post pictures of their kids on Facebook/Blogs/Whatever.

But, if I was friends with Willow I don't think I'd mind. This has to be the most photogenic kid in history.

Deep Thoughts

I wonder what would have happened on Election Day if people were as dedicated and organized about ruining the Republicans as they are about destroying Judith Griggs?
