Your Tax Dollars At Work

So, first a judge sent LiLo to jail for 30 days without bail. Then, a higher up judge said that was illegal for a misdemeanor violation and granted her bail and she was out.

In the meantime, a fact that most people have failed to notice is that the Department of Corrections has said they would boot her out after a 24 hour period no matter what.

Not because she's a celebrity - but because they are so broke and over crowded that they release all non violent drug violation offenders after 24 hours.

Now, how much do you think it cost the taxpayers of California for those two hearings today? How much did it cost the Department of Corrections?

How much will the additional hearings she has to have now cost California? How much will the random drug testing cost? How much will be spent on additional security in the courtroom?

How much do you think the State of California spends every day making non-celbrity drug users go through expensive court proceedings when everyone in the system knows they are going to be in and out of jail in a day?

What, exactly, is the State of California getting in return for spending all this money simply because some people like to get high?

Judges, probation officers, public defenders, bailiffs, correctional officers, etc.. aren't cheap.

It's all just such a pointless, stupid exercise.

But, hey, it's bad for Mexicans because it inflates drug prices and causes all sorts of turf wars where the spics end up killing each other, so I guess it's all worth it.

After all, a 15 year old Mexican girl killed by a stray bullet in a drive by shooting caused by our stupid drug enforcement policies won't ever be able to sneak into our country to pick our fruit for us.

And, that's what really matters.
