So Much For Freedom Of The Press

Gawker's computers were seized by the cops last night as part of an investigation into the theft of an iPhone prototype.

For those of you who don't know the background on this, a couple weeks ago an Apple employee got drunk and left a prototype for the next generation iPhone in a bar. A bartender then sold it to Gawker who then dismantled the thing and did a story about the features it will have.

Apple claims that Gawker is guilty of violating the Trade Secrets Act and of buying stolen property.

Gawker claims that if your people leave shit in a bar it's fair game.

What really sucks is that it looks like the reporter is the one being targeted when, in actuality, it's his boss who paid for the damn phone.
