On Tour

Some unexpected extra freelance work has enabled me to order Guitar Hero World Tour for the Wii.

I got the version with just the guitar because Rome Girl doesn't want a plastic drum kit in our living room and I'm too white to play drums anyway.

If you look at the link you'll see that there is a wide variety of songs this time around. Everything from Willy Nelson to Metallica to Michael Jackson.

I'm sure I'll feel silly trying to master "Band on the Run" but it will be worth it to advance to the level where I can play Ozzy's "Mr. Crowely."

Montpellier Help

Hi, Montpellier people who have better French skills than I do (Hannah, this means you.)

For her birthday Rome Girl has requested I get a professional cleaner in to clean the apartment. Do you have any idea where to look for and how to hire a professional cleaner in France? If you or I found one, would you be able to speak to them in French for me so they don't think "Oh, a stupid American, we can overcharge him and rob him!"

Before We Get Much Older

Rome Girl mentioned today that she finds it odd that The Who lyric I like the most is "I don't need to fight to prove I'm right. I don't need to be forgiven."

"It's the opposite of the way you think," she said. "It's how you want to think, but it's not how you really think."

She also commented that she thinks the reason I like the mid 70s Who concert videos so much is because I'm looking at them through the eyes of history. That they become different texts when you know Keith Moon is going to die badly and you understand that Pete was on his way to wasting years of his life to hard core alcoholism and that Daltry won't really ever do anything other than The Who.

Which also makes me think that Townsend didn't really think this way either when he wrote that lyric. In some ways it sounds like the protest of a depressed alcoholic who feels like he needs to fight and who needs to be forgiven - even if he doesn't want to feel that way.

All in all, good stuff to talk to my shrink about tomorrow!

So, today we purchased, and

A friend who owes me a favor is going to make CalendarCommunications automatically redirect to my Elance profile.

At some point Rome Girl and I are going to figure out how to get the MissExpatria and Drunkexpatwriter sites to automatically have our main blogs

UPDATE: I think it's working. When I just typed in it came up with my Elance profile!
