Writer's Block: Traditional Pursuits

There are a lot of things we see most often in December, like caroling, potato latkes, mistletoe, mulled wine, eggnog, and returning gifts. What's your favorite holiday tradition?

Waiting to find out who the drunk asshole will be at my family's Christmas party this year and loving that I will be thousands of miles away from it.

Trixiee is now one of the roommates of someone on my friend's list.

I find this amazing given that I've never met the person she's sharing a place with in real life, but feel like I know her.

It feels good because it shows that the Internet can be an awesome way to connect people who otherwise would never be connected.

Also, it lets me feel like Trixiee will be safe.

While playing Seven Card Stud at the Vert Anglais last night there was one hand where after four cards were dealt I had two aces up and an ace and king down.

One of the other players had two queens up and didn't flinch when I made a moderately high bet, telling me he had something.

The next card I got up was an king - giving me a full house, even though I only had two aces showing. The other player then got a third queen up - and went all in.

How could I resist that.

The sixth card wasn't interesting to anyone, but then my last hole card ended up being the fourth ace - leaving me with both four aces and a full house.

The other player was stunned because he had a full house of queens and eights and assumed he'd had it won.

I wonder what the odds are of those hands happening?

Seriously, between two players - each holding seven cards - we had all four aces, three of the kings and three of the queens.
