Recently they've changed the musical selections at the Vert Anglais to get rid of some of the pop music and mix in some hard rock including Velvet Revolver, Nirvana, Blink 182, Motorhead, Metallica, Guns N Roses, Pavement,Stone Temple Pilots, and similar stuff.
The odd part of this is that Hippy IT Boy knows a lot about music up until the late 80s and a lot of stuff released in the last year or two. But he has a 15 year gap where he didn't listen to any new rock.
But, he wants to learn, since everyone else in the bar is like "Damn, I love that song" when a particularly classic track comes on.
The other night, Nirvana's "Come As You Are" was playing and he asked "Is this Metallica?"
We all started laughing. Then, last night, when he wasn't around, we got an evil idea. We want to find the mostly obviously not-Metallica song possible from that era and try to convince him that it's Metallica.
I'm voting for Blink 182's "All The Small Things,", but I'm open to suggestions.
