I Call Shenanigans

Not to get off on a rant here, but...

This CNN article that talks about Jamie Lynn Spears no longer being the good sister is a great demonstration of what a bunch of hypocrites a lot of Americans are.

How the fuck is she the "bad sister" now? She's a 16 year old girl who had sex. That's not uncommon for 16 year old girls. Yes, she got pregnant, but that' doesn't make her "bad." It means a condom broke or she got carried away in a moment of passion. That happens to the best of us.

Hell, it's not like the kid is going to be on welfare!!!

She's not out partying instead of taking care of herself. She hasn't shaved her head. Or been accused of doing drugs or abandoning her responsibilities.

All she's done is gotten laid - which is a normal, natural urge for a teenager.

If a 16 year old male star was accused of having sex would anyone be like "OMG he's no longer a good boy!"

Hell, Scott Baio has admitted that he was doing his co-star on Happy Days when they were teenagers and no one has accused him of being "Bad Chachi!"

If anything she now has a chance to be a great role model for young girls - because she can demonstrate the huge amount of responsibility it is to bring a child into the world. And she can tell girls honestly that their actions carry consequences.
