No-one could have predicted Metallica's setlist when they performed their only show of 2007 at the Bridge School Concert, Neil Young's annual benefit outside San Francisco.

Instead of the usual metal munching a Metallica set is renowned for, the San Fran band dropped a set of mostly covers on the crowd, including Garbage's 'I'm Only Happy When It Rains'.

Metallica also performed Dire Straits' 'Brothers In Arms', 'Please Don't Judas Me' by Nazareth, Rare Earth's 'I Just Want To Celebrate' and their previously recorded cover of Bob Seger's 'Turn The Page'.

A few Metallica songs made the set. They played 'Disposable Heroes', 'All Within My Hands' and ended with the classic 'Nothing Else Matters'.

The Bridge School Concert also featured Jerry Lee Lewis, John Mayer, My Morning Jacket, Tegan & Sara, Regina Spektor, Tom Waits and, of course, Neil Young.

Young mixed the old with his new album 'Chrome Dreams II'. His setlist opened with 'Sugar Mountain' and featured 'Beautiful Bluebird', 'The Way', 'Winterlong', 'Spirit Road', 'Oh Lonesome Me', 'The Believer', and 'No Hidden Path'.
