Sunday

Tried to get some work done in the afternoon but got hit by the Curse of No Inspiration.

Gah!

Instead chatted online with nancy_whiskey about the legal implications of state's rights versus federal responsibilities, the fact that she's only seen John Waters in New York and the ratio of tall women to short men in Manhattan.

Had coffee twice in the Place de la Comedie. Started saying silent prayers that my ATM card shows up today or tomorrow.

Did a shitload of stuff with the dumb bells. It's becoming much easier to do my sets. I'm trying to decide if this means I need to buy more weight for the bars or simply do more sets.

Watched three more episodes of Grey's Anatomy. I still hate the Asian chick, but damn the lead actress is even more annoying. Rome Girl says this is Bridget Jones set in a hospital. I think it's Alley McBeal set in a hospital. The problem is that Ally wore seriously short skirts - which gave me a pleasant distraction when Alley would winge about men, jobs and the sad plight of the muskrat squirrel.

To keep me from going insane we alternated episodes of Meridith and Her Mad Mom with season one episodes of Alias. Rome Girl has never really gotten into Alias, but it works great as a bright, breezy alternative to blonde babes bitching about responsibility while performing surgery with long fingernails.

I finished the new Stephen King novel, Lisey's Story. Not one of his best by far. Lately it seems like he's on a running theme about how weird it is to be an author. He's always sort of had that going on - think The Dark Half - but lately it's less whimsical and more SERIOUS METAMAN and I'm sort of over it. I'd like to see if he has another scary interesting work like "It" or "Pet Semetary" in him.

So It Goes

According to one of the daily French newspapers about 84.6 percent of the French came out to vote yesterday.

Imagine that!!! In America if we got 70 percent out we'd be dancing in the streets.

And this happened during a race where nobody really likes any of the candidates. What the hell would have happened if there were reasonable people running.

The results are also interesting. This is a primarily Catholic patriarchal country - yet the candidates who will be running in the run off election in two weeks are a man with a hungarian and Jewish background and a woman.

Talk about through the looking glass.

The downside is that no matter who wins the short term results are going to suck.

If Sarkozy takes it and puts in his reforms the students will riot in the streets and the Arabs will go batshit crazy. .

On the other hand, Royale is no prize either. Her plans to raise the minimum wage, give more money to the unemployed will raise taxes on businesses will cause even more unemployment - which is one of the reasons for the ghetto riots last year. And her policies will causes prices on everything to rise which will really put a strain on everyone. Plus, she's praised the Chinese justice and economic system, which really doesn't give me warm fuzzies.

Stil, 84.6 percent.

Rock on France.

Rock the fuck on.
