Love Is A Battlefield

For the past nine months my brother, Shane, has been arguing that he should have the right to hang out in Madrid for a year or two after he graduates. But, his mom has been telling him he'd be better off working in a bank.

The email from my dad tonight makes me think his mom has won:

"Children are a spectator sport after a certain age. I just don't want Shane living at home adding volume to my already rancorous existence. He has all the earmarks of an Irish child staying at home with Mum until he's 40."

For the first time ever I wish I was in New Jersey so I could just smack him.
